Jefferson County Dog Wardens on Hunt for Unlicensed, Unvaccinated Canines

small-dog-190157_1280BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Beware, the Jefferson County Dog Wardens are on the hunt.

Pet owners who have unlicensed or unvaccinated dogs should be aware that there are five crews making their rounds in the county.

Jefferson County Treasurer James “Moon” Vansteenberg made the announcement at Tuesday’s Commissioners meeting.

“If they see evidence of pets at a home, they may stop and check to see if a dog is properly licensed and vaccinated for rabies and have their required shots,” Van Steenberg said. “They’ll be knocking on doors or leaving their cards.”

VanSteenberg said fines typically range from $50-175 and can go as high as $300, depending on the violation.
