Criminal Conference Scheduled for Man Who Said He Hit Child Because ‘He’s Old School’

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – A Punxsutawney man who reportedly struck a child in the face, causing a laceration to the child’s lip, is scheduled for a criminal conference this week.

Court documents indicate 35-year-old Scott Allan Watson is scheduled for a criminal conference on Wednesday, June 17.

Watson faces the following charges:

– Endangering Welfare of Children – Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Misdemeanor 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 1
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Punxsutawney in early March.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 9:30 a.m. on March 9, Officer Andrekovich, of the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department, was contacted by a Jefferson County Children and Youth Services (CYS) worker requesting assistance.

According to the complaint, it was reported that Scott Allan Watson had struck a known juvenile victim in the mouth, causing the victim to suffer a laceration to his lip.

Officer Andrekovich made contact with Watson and a known woman.

According to the complaint, Watson stated he heard the victim yelling around 2:00 a.m. and went into the victim’s bedroom and “smacked him in the mouth because he is old school.”

The complaint notes the victim was brought downstairs, and his injury was photographed.

The charges were filed against Watson through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on Thursday, March 12.
