Cromer K. Gathers

Cromer K. Gathers, 76 of Fairmount City, PA, died Friday December 19, 2014 at his home.

Born November 25, 1938 in Fairmount City, PA, he was the son of the late Willis Darl and Ruth R. Minich Gathers.

Cromer attended Fairmount City and Summerville grade school and was a graduate of Summerville High School. On December 19, 1959 Cromer was married to Donna Marshall in Shannondale. She precedes him in death. He was an veteran serving with the US ARMY, obtaining the rank of specialist 3rd class. He was discharged on January 30, 1964. Cromer was employed as a welder by Ohio GATX at the NASA Space Center in Cape Canaveral FL. until his retirement in 2004.

Cromer was a member of the Nevin Memorial United Church of Christ in Fairmount City. He was also a perpetual member of New Smyrna FL. Lodge No. 149. Free and Accepted Masons of Florida. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing softball, (he played many years in the over 50 league), and cutting fire wood. He had his own yard service for sixteen years.

Cromer is survived by three sons; Bill (Deb) McMaster of Crates, Doug Gathers of Atlanta, GA., Todd (Kelly) Gathers of Fairmount City; a sister, Patty Shick of West Middlesex, PA.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
