CUP Tennis Picks up Victory

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Clarion tennis team got back on the winning track with a resounding victory on Wednesday, defeating Fairmont State 7-2 at Hilton Head Island.

The Golden Eagles (4-4) will wrap up their week in South Carolina against Arcadia on Friday.

The Golden Eagles started the day by sweeping all three doubles matches on the court. The duo of Allie Probst and Michelle Petrilla had the most exciting doubles match of the day, holding off Geena Lammertin and Emily Hart for a 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles. Alivia Arnold and Maria Snyder won the No. 1 doubles match over Trinite Klamadji and Hayley Hatfield by an 8-5 score, and the duo of Vinisha Reddy and Katie Benson won the No. 3 doubles match by an 8-6 score.

Snyder also recorded a win in the No. 2 singles match, beating Hatfield 6-4, 6-1 for her third singles win of the trip. Michelle Petrilla beat Geena Lammertin 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles match and Vinisha Reddy won a straight-sets decision over Janay Beamer in the No. 4 match. Katie Benson wrapped up the wins with a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Lily Peterson in the No. 6 singles match.
