BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Clarion women’s diving duo of Emma Kehn and Christina Sather authored an explosive finish to the 2017 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday, with both finishing in the top-five in the 3m Dive. Sather took fourth overall while Kehn took fifth.

The pair makes 279 total All-Americans for diving coach Dave Hrovat, who was thrilled with what he called the “best performances all year” from both divers. The outcome was even more impressive when considering that Sather is a sophomore and Kehn a true freshman.

“This was the best list that either of them did all year, and what a time to do it,” Hrovat said.

Any question about the performance of Sather and Kehn this week, who both earned All-American honors in the 1m Dive earlier this week, can be answered with this fact alone: Clarion finished 20th out of 39 teams at the national meet despite having just two competitors taking part in two events. Sather finished with a final score of 473.95, while Kehn posted a mark of 468.45.

The moment wasn’t too big for either diver nor was the impact lost on them.

“The girls were smiling and taking all of this in,” Hrovat said. “They definitely had a blast this week.”
