The Curve (70-62) rounded out the regular season series with the Baysox (69-63), posting a 5-14 record.

With the Curve leading 2-1 in the sixth inning, Aderlin Rodriguez blasted a grand slam on the first pitch he saw from Altoona reliever Jake Brentz, putting the Baysox ahead, 5-2.

Altoona got a run back in the bottom of the sixth when Jin-De Jhang hit an RBI groundout to cut the deficit to 5-3, but Bowie added on to their lead again in the eighth.

Rodriguez hit his second home run of the game, a two-run shot, to extend the score to 7-3.

Six of Rodriguez’s 20 home runs this season have come against Altoona.

The Curve opened the scoring in the first inning when Cole Tucker tripled and Pablo Reyes knocked him in with a sacrifice fly.

Altoona extended their lead to 2-0 in the fourth when Wyatt Mathisen drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Altoona’s “magic number” to clinch a playoff spot is two games after Akron beat Erie on Saturday.

Curve starter Mitch Keller (Loss, 1-2) allowed four earned runs on four hits in 5.2 innings, striking out seven. Jake Brentz allowed a run in 0.2 innings and surrendered the grand slam to Rodriguez. Yeudy Garcia gave up two earned runs in 1.2 innings and Sean Keselica pitched a scoreless ninth.

Bowie starter Yefry Ramirez (Win, 14-3) picked up his league-leading 14th win and allowed three runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings. Paul Fry and Scott McGough combined for 3.2 scoreless innings.

Altoona will embark on their final road trip of the regular season beginning on Monday night in Richmond for a four-game series. The Curve will send right-hander Alex McRae (10-5, 3.76) to the mound, while righty Dillon McNamara (0-2, 8.78) will start for the Flying Squirrels. First pitch at The Diamond in Richmond is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
