Curve Fall to Erie, 7-2

ERIE, Pa. – The Altoona Curve lost to the Erie SeaWolves, 7-2, on Tuesday night at UPMC Park, dropping to 1-4 on the current road trip.

The Curve (10-8) have now lost four of their last five games.

Erie (9-8) broke onto the scoreboard against Altoona starter J.T. Brubaker (Loss, 1-2) in the first inning with an RBI single by Mike Gerber. Kody Eaves drove a solo homer in the second, and Christin Stewart added a solo homer in the fourth to extend the lead to 3-0.

Brubaker allowed four runs on five hits over six innings with one walk and three strikeouts.

The Curve plated a run in the sixth with a solo home run by Kevin Newman, his first of the season. Newman finished the game 3-for-4.

It was the only run allowed on the night by Erie starter Tyler Alexander (Win, 1-2) in his six innings. A.J. Achter (Save, 1) worked the final three innings and allowed one run.

Erie added three runs in the seventh inning with an RBI single Jeff McVaney, RBI double by Gerber and a hit batter to pull ahead, 7-1.

Jordan Luplow led off the ninth with his second double of the game and later came in to score on a groundout by Michael Suchy, cutting the deficit to 7-2.

The Curve wrap up the series with the rubber match of the three-game set on Wednesday afternoon at UPMC Park. Right-hander Tanner Anderson (1-1, 2.20) will be on the mound for the Curve, with right-hander Artie Lewicki (1-1, 7.43) pitching for Erie. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m.
