Curve Grab Fourth Straight Win

BINGHMATON, N.Y. – The Altoona Curve scored four runs over the first two innings and rolled to a 6-3 win over the Binghamton Mets on Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium.

The Curve (39-31) won their fourth straight game, holding the B-Mets (28-41) to 4-for-17 with runners in scoring position and stranded 13 runners on base.

After clubbing three hits on Tuesday night, Reese McGuire started the scoring in the first inning with a two-run double down the right-field line. The next batter, Edwin Espinal, doubled McGuire across the plate to extend the lead to 3-0.

Jose Osuna worked a bases-loaded walk from Binghamton starter Rainy Lara (Loss, 4-7) to plate the fourth run of the game for the Curve in the second inning.

Binghamton got a run back in the third, but Altoona answered with an RBI single by Harold Ramirez to score Anderson Feliz in the fourth.

Clay Holmes (Win, 6-4) allowed one run on seven hits with four walks and a hit batter in his five innings. He needed 97 pitches (49 strikes) to get through his five innings,

Barrett Barnes came through with a pinch-hit, RBI double in the sixth inning to put the Curve ahead, 6-1.

Binghamton scored two runs in the seventh, but Brett McKinney (Save, 1) worked through the eighth and, after a lead-off single in the ninth, struck out the side to close out the Curve win.

Ramirez finished the game with three hits, raising his season average back to .297. Stetson Allie went 2-for-4 with two doubles.

The Curve look to complete a three-game sweep on Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium. Lefty Cody Dickson (5-3, 3.48) will be on the mound for the Curve, with right-hander Josh Zeid (1-1, 3.65) pitching for the B-Mets. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
