The Curve (24-21) extended their season-worst losing streak, which began on Sunday with a loss to the SeaWolves (21-23).

Entering the eighth with a 3-1 lead, the Curve brought in Tanner Anderson (Loss, 2-5) for his first relief outing of the season. Mike Gerber led off the inning with a single and moved to third base on a double by Christin Stewart, which came on a fly ball to center field that was lost by Pablo Reyes and fell to the ground.

Dominic Ficociello followed with a game-tying, two-run double. Kody Eaves brought Ficociello across the plate with a go-ahead single.

The Curve opened the scoring in the second inning when Edwin Espinal doubled and came in to score on a fielder’s choice by Chase Simpson. The lead was extended to 2-0 in the fourth after Connor Joe doubled and scored on a fielding error by Ficociello off the bat of Espinal.

Erie got on the board in the fifth inning with an RBI groundout by A.J. Simcox.

Simpson hit a solo home run, his third of the season, in the sixth to push the Curve’s lead to 3-1.

Altoona starter J.T. Brubaker, making his first start since May 2, worked five innings and allowed one run on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Sean Keselica took over for him in the sixth and struck out four over two scoreless innings.

Erie’s Artie Lewicki worked six innings and allowed three runs (one earned). Adam Ravenelle and Mike Zagurski (Win, 2-0) and Sean Donatello (Save, 4) each pitched one scoreless inning.

The Curve continue the road trip with the second of four games on Saturday night at UPMC Park. Right-hander Austin Coley (1-1, 2.98) will be on the mound for the Curve, with left-hander Josh Turley (0-1, 6.14) making his second start of the season for the SeaWolves. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
