CU’s Kehn, Sather Earn All-American Awards in Diving

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Emma Kehn and Christina Sather added two more All-American honors to their respective trophy shelves on Wednesday night, as the pair took second and third, respectively, in the 3m Dive at the 2018 NCAA Division II Championships in Greensboro.

Kehn and Sather excelled in what was a crowded field by taking second and third in the prelims earlier in the day. They maintained that order into the finals, with Kehn scoring a 452.70 while Sather was just behind her at 449.70. Genesis Veliz, a national champion in Venezuela and currently a student-athlete at Oklahoma Baptist, took first.

“I’m just thrilled with the way Emma and Christina dove tonight,” diving coach Dave Hrovat said. “For both of them to be within striking distance against someone who was a Venezuelan national champion is so incredibly impressive. What a time for both of them to peak.

The pair of Kehn and Sather will look to add more hardware to the mantle late this week when they compete in the 1m Dive.
