An Interesting addition to a few teams’ schedules is St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Boalsburg, which will be in its first year of playing football. St. Joseph’s is a Class A School in District 6, and according to Phil Cmor of the Altoona Mirror, the school could be more respectable than a lot of first-year programs thanks to the addition of some players from other schools in the area. Chances are, it won’t be a great team but it could very well be a team no one should look past.
St. Joseph’s appears on the schedule of Coudersport, Curwensville, Elk County Catholic, Kane, A-C Valley and the new Ridgway/Johnsonburg coop.
Speaking of the Ridgway-Johnsonburg athletic merger. That is one of the main reasons St. Joseph’s is on so many AML Schedules. Many teams lost a game with the merger and St. Joseph’s is replacing that game. Still, there are a couple of teams that didn’t replace the game and now have a bye week as of right now including Smethport (Sept. 6) and Brockway (Oct. 18). Also the Ridgway/Johnsonburg coop has a bye week Oct. 4 when the two teams would have met.
A couple of other changes from the past in the schedule, all but one of Port Allegany’s home games will now be Friday night. The Gators, who added lights for this season, still play one Saturday afternoon home game Sept. 14 vs. the Ridgway/JB coop. Another chance is the starting times of Clarion-Limestone’s games which have been moved from 7:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. according to Jeffersonian Democrat Sports Editor Rich Rhoades, a contributor to D9Sports.com as well.
