DA Burkett: Tetro ‘Had to Be Held Accountable’ for Child Sex Crimes

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – “Tough, but fair.”

Those are the words Jefferson County District Attorney Jeff Burkett used to describe the sentence handed down by county judge John H. Foradora to convicted child molester Glenn Tetro on Monday.

Judge Foradora sentenced Tetro, of Summerville, to 21 to 80 years in state prison for the repeated sexual abuse of an underage girl dating back to the 1990s.

“I am very pleased by this outcome,” stated prosecuting attorney Burkett.

“These crimes have caused a number of people an enormous amount of pain, suffering, and trauma,” said Burkett. “Mr. Tetro had to be held accountable for this.

“Judge Foradora recognized this and delivered a tough but fair sentence for these crimes.”

Tetro, the co-founder of Brookville Behavioral Health, was found guilty in January by a Jefferson County jury. The jury found him guilty of three counts of Rape (of a person under the age of 13); three counts of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse (of a person under the age of 13); three counts of Statutory Sexual Assault; and four counts of Indecent Assault (of a person under the age of 13).

The investigation into Tetro began early last year after a female victim reported to police that she was sexually abused by Tetro on several occasions between September 1994 and March 1998, when she was between the ages of 6 and 10 years old, at a residence in Summerville. The victim indicated that she was “trained” by Tetro to perform sexual acts on him “as if it was normal behavior.” She also provided police with court documentation from 2008 that referenced the suspected sexual abuse and also related that Tetro had admitted to the abuse during two phone calls in 2018 and apologized to her.

“I want to recognize the fine work done on this case by Tpr. Derek Weaver, my county detectives, Jeff Lee and Dave Ray, and my entire staff. Without their competent, hard work on this case, this outcome would not have been possible,” said Burkett. “I also want to thank my victim-witness coordinator, Michelle Fusco, who took excellent care of the victim and her family throughout the entire ordeal. Her kindness and goodness helped them navigate this very difficult process.

“I hope that the victim and her family can now experience some peace and put this painful chapter behind them.”
