Daisy “Maude” (Snyder) Becker

Daisy “Maude” (Snyder) Becker, 92, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, March 6, 2018.

Maude was born on May 24, 1925, to the late Newel Jennings Snyder and Mary Bell (Smith) (Snyder) Miller, in Brookville, PA.

She attended Brookville High School with the class of 1944. Maude married John Becker Jr., on March 12, 1948, in Brookville, PA; John preceded her in passing on December 24, 2003.

Maude worked hard throughout her life. She held positions at many places including Kline’s Dry Cleaner, the Sylvania Plant in Brookville, PA, Glass Containers of Marienville, PA, and she was a secretary for L.A. Leathers Auto Dealership. She was also a waitress at the Dixie Diner and the American Hotel. Maude attended church at the First United Methodist Church in Brookville, PA; she was a member for multiple decades. She enjoyed the simple things in life including reading, shopping, and eating out. Crocheting was also something she loved, and she would often sew clothes for her many grandchildren.

She has a loving family that will miss her dearly. Maude is survived by two daughters; Dianna L. (the late Marlin) Knapp of Brookville, PA, Toni L. (Nelson) Wardell of Brookville, PA; one son; John Charles Becker of Brookville, PA; two sisters; Althea (Snyder) Becker of Brookville, PA, Betty (Snyder) Sprankle of North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, Maude is preceded in death by one sister, Bertha Snyder; and one son; Stephen John Becker.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 8, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA. A funeral service will take place on Friday, March 9, 2018, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11:00 a.m., and officiated by Associate Pastor Lila Bachelier. Interment will take place at the Roseville – Bethel Cemetery, Union Township, Jefferson County, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the First United Methodist Church, Jefferson St., Brookville.
