Damaging Winds, Severe Thunderstorms Possible for Today

The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh issued the following Hazardous Weather Outlook at 4:26 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016:

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR EAST CENTRAL OHIO…NORTHWEST PENNSYLVANIA…SOUTHWEST PENNSYLVANIA…WEST CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA AND WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA.

.DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT.

SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS TODAY AND TONIGHT. THE MAIN THREAT WILL BE DAMAGING WINDS.

According to forecasters of the NWS of Pittsburgh, “it appears that the risk for a widespread severe event today is becoming less likely. This does not mean that strong to severe storms are not possible today and tonight, but it does mean that the strength and coverage of any storms will be less than what looked possible just a couple of days ago.”

Individuals in the region should still monitor forecasts as the day progresses and be prepared to seek shelter.
