Daniel Harvey

Daniel Harvey, 55, of Marion Center, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, June 4, 2016.

He was born on Aug. 8, 1960, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Jack and Sara (Sprankle) Harvey.

Dan was a graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army, where he faithfully served his country from 1979 to 1985.

On May 5, 2007, he married Roberta J. Bair. She survives and resides in Marion Center.

Mr. Harvey previously worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for BJ Services and Universal Well.

He was a good friend to everyone, always joking around and pulling pranks. He especially enjoyed getting his buddy, Dave, with his latest idea of a joke.

His enjoyments were spending time with his granddaughters, shooting fireworks and guns and hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Roberta, he is survived by a daughter, Deanna Sharp of Marion Center; two granddaughters, Justine Ferchalk and Sydney Scalise; a brother, David Harvey of Philadelphia; two sisters, Jackie Brooks of Punxsutawney; and Susan Bair and husband Rodger of Punxsutawney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Anthony Scalise; and a brother, John Harvey.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Doug Wolfe.

Mr. Harvey’s ashes will be interred at Hopewell Cemetery in Frostburg.
