Daryl W. Rhea, 73, of Shippenville, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at his home while working in his yard.
Born on October 23, 1942 in Clarion; he was the son of Daryl and Helen Selker Rhea.
Daryl was married on July 2, 1966 to the former Susanne Wasickanin, and she survives.
He was a building materials dealer with his brother, David, in Rhea Lumber.
A veteran, Daryl served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion.
Daryl was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was very active in the church, serving on numerous committees. He also enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Rhea was also former mayor of Clarion and was a former board member of the Clarion Library.
He is survived by his wife; five children, Sara Reichard of Shippenville, Laura Wilkowski and her husband, Stephen, of Midland, MI, Adam Rhea and Angela Amin of Charlottesville, VA, Valerie Arsiniega and her husband, David, of Milwaukee, WI, and Carina Rhea of Los Angeles, CA; nine grandchildren, Daniel, Amber, Joey, Bryan, and Timothy Reichard, Elvis Arsiniega, and Michael, Samuel, and Margaret Wilkowski; two brothers, Bruce Rhea and his wife, Ruth, and John Rhea and his wife, Dixy, both of Sanford, FL; three sisters, Eloise Raeder and her husband, Kurt, of Victoria B.C., Katherine Hoffman and her husband, Edward, of Miola, and Terri Haws and her husband, George, of Sanford, FL; and a sister-in-law, Susan Rhea of Clarion.
Daryl was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Rhea; and an infant brother, Gregory.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion.
Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 66 of Clarion at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2014, in the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion, with Rev. Monty Sayers, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Church, presiding.
Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion.
