David Alan Moore, 50, of Brookville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.
David was born on May 12, 1964, in Punxsutawney, a son of William Bernard and Nancy Lee (Shaffer) Moore. Both parents survive David.
David was a loving father, son, brother and husband. He married the former Dawn Thomas on Oct. 5, 1985. His wonderful wife of 29 years survives.
David had a passion for carpentry.
He was employed at Berry Plastic at the time of his death.
David cherished his family and enjoyed their company and quality time with them when he wasn’t working.
He also liked the outdoors – particularly, hunting and fishing.
Besides his love for family, David’s “ideal day” would start in the morning by “drowning a few worms,” followed by an afternoon of “taking his gun for a walk,” then concluding the day beside a roaring campfire with his family and friends.
David enjoyed life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by his loving wife, children, siblings, parents and his many friends. David was a good man.
He is survived by his parents, William and Nancy Moore; his wife, Dawn; two daughters, Samantha Dawn Moore and husband Nathaniel of Erie and Aimee Marie Moore of Brookville; two brothers, William B. Moore, Jr. of California and Christopher Wade Moore and wife Sherry of Reynoldsville; and his paternal grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Moore.
David was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William E. Moore, and his maternal grandmother and grandfather, Margaret Helen and Francis Blair Shaffer.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2015, at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Brookville.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Mike Garvey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Moore’s memory to the Tom Siple Foundation, 1656 Ringgold Timblin Rd., Timblin, PA 15778 or the Willow Run Sanctuary, PO Box 32, Coolspring, PA 15730.
