David Dodd obitDavid M. Dodd age 85 of Church Avenue Brockway, PA; died on Saturday April 9, 2016 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.

Born on August 15, 1930 in Washington, PA; he was the son of the late John L. and Ethel Gump Dodd. He was married to Mary Lou Cain Dodd and she preceded him in death on October 8, 2009. David graduated from the Washington Fifth Ward Grade School, the Washington High School, Washington & Jefferson College where he was a Mathematics Major. He also was a graduate of the Pittsburgh Technical Institute and the Locksmithing Institute where he studied Professional Locksmithing.

Retired, David had been employed at Owens-Brockway Glass. He was a member of the Brockway Presbyterian Church where he served as a Trustee, a Ruling Elder and the Church School Superintendent. He was a U.S. Navy, Korean War Veteran serving on the USS FDR CVB 42 – QM2/USN. David had previously served as an EMT at the Brockway Ambulance Service, was an Advanced First Aid Instructor for the American Red Cross, served on the Board of Directors as well as a CPR Instructor for the American Heart Association and was a Multi Gallon Blood Donor.

He was a member of the Amwell Township Historical Society, Cornerstone Genealogical Society, Brockway Area Historical Society, was a 50+ year member of the American Cryptogram Association, Elk Lodge No. 379 F&AM where he was a Past Master, Knights of the York Cross of Honor where he was a Past Prior, Red Cross of Constantine where he was a past Sovereign, HRAKTP, Bethlehem Tabernacle No. LXXIV where he was a Past Precepter, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Coudersport, 33rd degree.

David enjoyed Genealogy and Cryptography and had solved 9000 cryptograms as of February 2014.

He is survived by 2 daughters: Diane (Rick) Genevro of Brockport, PA and Patty (Denny) Montag of DuBois, PA. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Andy and Nick Genevro and Daniel and Michael Dodd. In addition to his parents and his wife he is also preceded in death by a son Timothy Dodd who died on July 9, 2014.

All services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Beechwoods Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Brockwayville Depot, Brockway Historical Society or Mengle Memorial Library.
