Deer Causes One-Vehicle Crash in Bloom Twp.

BLOOM TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say a one-vehicle collision involving a deer occurred May 30 on Irishtown Road in Bloom Township, Clearfield County.

According to police, the crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. as 54-year-old Kathryn A. Mitchell, of Grampain, was traveling eastbound on Irishtown Road.

A deer jumped onto the roadway from the woods into the path of Mitchell’s 2014 GMC Yukon.

Police say Mitchell applied her brakes but was unable to avoid hitting the deer with the front-end of her vehicle.

Mitchell was able to pull the vehicle off the roadway before coming to a final rest.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage in the crash and had to be towed from the scene, say police.

Mitchell and her passenger, 61-year-old Randy J. Mitchell, of Grampian, were both uninjured in the crash.
