Deer Causes Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 80

CLARION TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Two area residents escaped injury in a two-vehicle crash yesterday on Interstate 80 eastbound in Clarion Township, Clarion County.

DuBois-based State Police say the accident happened around 6:33 a.m. in the area of mile marker 72.4.

Wayne Meier, 61, of Sligo, and Rhea Cohen, 23, of Brockway, were traveling eastbound when a deer entered the roadway.

Police say Cohen began to slow down but was unable to avoid the deer.

After striking the deer, Cohen’s 2008 Toyota Yaris was struck from behind by Meier’s 2012 Peterbilt tri-axle truck.

No injuries were reported.

Both drivers were wearing safety belts.
