McCracken Delva Rebecca Mayo HenryDelva Rebecca Mayo Henry McCracken, age 96, of Brookville, passed away Monday evening, September 21, 2015 at Brookside Senior Living, where she was a resident since 2007.

Born January 22, 1919 in Clover Township, Jefferson County, she was a daughter of the late Renal Lawrence “Dick” Mayo and Lina Witherow Mayo.

She married Wesley Henry who preceded her in death on May 18, 1964. She later married Lloyd “Pearly” McCracken and he preceded her in death on September 25, 2007.

Delva worked as a monitor for Sylvania Electronic Products during its entire presence in Brookville. She received recognition for an innovation in the manufacturing process.

She was a member of the Brookville Evangelical United Brethren Church and taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. She later attended the Richardsville Baptist Church.

Delva was a member of the Little Village Choir in the 1940’s and ‘50s and she enjoyed reading, collecting antiques and walking.

For many years she supported a needy child through overseas Christian missions.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Dee Lewis and her husband, Don, of Clarion; two step-daughters: Jean Dush of RD Brookville and Carol Hollobaugh and her husband, Tim, of Richardsville.

Delva is also survived by six grandchildren: David Henry and Kimberly McMahan and her husband, Gene, of Chickamauga, Georgia; Teri Hall and her husband, Don, of Denver, Colorado; Don Lewis and his wife, Cyndi, of Greenville, South Carolina; Lori Miller and her husband, Denny, of Rimersburg and Michael Lewis and his wife, Roxanne, of Clarion; eleven great grandchildren, 1 niece, 4 nephews and numerous step grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Dick Henry; step-son, Jack McCracken; brothers: Wade and Lee Mayo and sisters, Leona Allshouse and Betty Mayo (who passed away in childhood).

At Delva’s request, there will be no calling hours.

Interment will take place in the St. John’s “Windy Hill” Cemetery in Rose Township, Jefferson County.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
