DEVELOPING STORY: Bridge Collapses in Ridgway

ELK COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – A bridge on North Broad Street in Ridgway (Route 219) collapsed Thursday afternoon.

According to Elk County Office of Emergency Services, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m.

Multiple construction workers and a large excavator were on the bridge at the time of the collapse. Initial reports indicate at least three people were injured in the collapse.

Sources say the bridge was in the process of being repaired after being damaged by flooding.

North Broad Street remains closed until further notice.
