Dislodged Tire Crosses Median on I-80 East, Strikes Vehicle Traveling I-80 West

UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to Clarion-based State Police, around 12:57 p.m. on May 25, an accident occurred on Interstate-80 West, at 73 MM, in Union Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 54-year-old Mohammad Dawoud-Ahmed Mohammad, of Dearborn Heights, MI, and Gary J. Lecoque, of Rockford, IL, were involved in the collision.

The crash occurred as Mohammed was traveling east on I-80 in a commercial vehicle, and the rear dual tires of the trailer dislodged from the trailer. The tires crossed the median, according to police.

One of the tires struck a 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by Lecoque, police say.

Mohammed, Lecoque, and a passenger in Lecoque’s vehicle – 54-year-old Theresa Lecoque, of Rockford, IL, were using seat belts; no injuries were reported.
