Doris Ann (Goss) Rugh

Doris Ann Rugh, 77, of Porter Road, Punxsutawney, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born in Punxsutawney on October 30, 1943, a daughter of the late Elder Jefferson Goss and Alice (Sherry) Goss.

Doris was the wife of the late William Henry Rugh, Jr., who preceded her in death in 2007.

She was a member of the Porter United Methodist Church and also served as a member of the Ladies Aid.

Mrs. Rugh previously worked for Punxsutawney Area Hospital in the Snack Bar and later in retail in Florida. She was always smiling, enjoyed working and being around people. In her later years, she made her home in Florida from 1996-2019, she loved the sunshine and good weather.

Doris was the Matriarch of the Rugh family, she was dearly loved and adored by her many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was pleasant, kind and loving to all of them.

She is survived by seven children; Bambi Reddinger and husband Gary, Billie Sue Brink, Dawn Hughes and husband Richard, Tammy Reddinger and husband Mark, Lou Ann Lauer and husband Brian, Tracy McDonald and husband Wayne, and William Henry Rugh III; a special granddaughter that looked after her, Kasey Renee Schaffer and husband Scott; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, John Goss and wife Kathy; two sisters, Thelma Snyder and husband Robert and Gladys Milliron.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Nathan Lauer and great granddaughter, McKensie Johnston, and her favorite dog Elvis.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday, officiated by Pastor Johnny Pennington.

Because Doris loved Tie Dyed, everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite Tie Dyed Shirt in her memory and loving spirit.

Memorial donations may be made in Doris’s memory to the Burkett Hollow Church, 669 Burkett Hollow Road, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
