Doris C. Gerg, 93, of Brookville, PA passed away on December 8, 2020.

Born November 1, 1927 in Brookville (Eldred Township), she was the daughter of the late John Edward and Mary E. (Park) Caldwell.

Doris was a 1946 graduate of the Brookville Area High School and throughout her life enjoyed attending her class reunions which she helped to plan to ensure a fun time was had by all. Following graduation she lived with her sister Ruth in Devon, CT, where she attended business school and worked as a stenographer/typist for Raybestos-Manhatten.

Upon returning to Brookville she was employed with Brookville Bank and Trust and thereafter the L. A. Leathers Company.

On September 20, 1952 she married John “Jack” H. Gerg who preceded her in death on July 13, 2017. Following her marriage Doris became a full time mother and homemaker; home was always her favorite place to be.

Doris was an active member of the Brookville Presbyterian Church where she served as Deacon and Clerk of Session. She enjoyed bowling and later in life the game of golf. She and Jack were members of the Pinecrest Country Club and enjoyed many Sundays of golf and lunch with friends. Doris was known for her sense of humor and hearty laugh which was a welcome and familiar sound to all who knew her.

Family always came first for Doris. One of eight children, she and her siblings frequently got together for picnics and other family gatherings and she was close with her many nieces and nephews. Doris was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her four grandchildren and never missed their sporting events or school performances.

Doris is survived by her sons Hud (Gretchen) Gerg of Woodruff, SC. and Thomas (Beth) Gerg of Brookville, PA, daughters Susan Gerg and Anne (Darren) Lyle, both of Brookville, and grandchildren Chase Lyle, Dane Lyle and Christian Gerg.
