Dorothy H. Bembenic, age 88, Shaffer Street, Sykesville, PA died Friday, February 13, 2015 at Christ the King Manor.
Born on March 20, 1926 in Sykesville, PA, she was the daughter of the late John & Magdeline (Burich) Sabarich.
On July 4, 1947, she married Peter Paul Bembenic. He preceded her in death on June 23, 1998.
She retired happily at age 77 after over 20 years of service as a cook in the office at Fairman Drilling Company.
Dorothy was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church and past president of the rosary society for many years. She organized many trips to Canada, Washington D.C., Florida, and Boston to name a few. She organized many charitable dinners at the church benefitting African missions and other church affairs. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She loved to spend time with her family, especially playing Tripoli. She loved to crochet and cooking was her passion.
She is survived by her children: Denise Bussard and her husband, Allen of Reynoldsville, PA, Doug Bembenic and his wife, Suzanne of DuBois, PA, Timothy Bembenic and his wife, Paulette of DuBois, PA, Dennis Bembenic and his wife, Carol of Brockway, PA and Michelle Johnson of DuBois, PA, one sister, Evelyn Hoare of Reynoldsville, PA, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Bembenic, seven sisters and five brothers.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 1-6 P.M. at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 11 A.M. from the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Rick
Tomasone as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
