Dorothy Margaret Wright

Mrs. Dorothy Margaret Wright, 88, passed away quietly at the Penn Highlands Hospital in Brookville on Wednesday, February 22, 2017.

Dorothy was born in Timblin on April 27, 1928 to the late Charles and Gladys (Snyder) Anderson. Mrs. Wright married the late William Henry Yates in August 1946.

William preceded Dorothy in death on December 16, 1963. She subsequently married Thomas Leroy Wright on December 19, 1973. Thomas survives and resides at Laurelbrooke Landing in Brookville.

Dorothy was a homemaker who proudly kept an immaculate home and well-manicured yard.

She also was a book keeper for Tom Wright Trucking for many years.

She and Tom enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, and bowling. Dorothy was also an avid doll and jewelry collector which brought her great joy and pleasure.

Mrs. Wright was a member of the Brookville Eagles and the Assembly of God in Anita.

Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband of 43 years, Thomas; a daughter, Nancy Yates and husband John Wollar of Miami, FL; two sons, Allen Yates of Punxsutawney and Richard Yates and his wife Debra of Maidens, VA. Dorothy is also survived by three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, and her first husband William Yates, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother, Charles “Bud” Anderson and five sisters, Grace Buzzard, Mary Reed, Lois Burkett, Carol McGregor, and Emma Jean Vega.

Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017, at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., in Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February, 28, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Johnny Pennington officiating.

Dorothy will be interred at the Mt Pleasant cemetery in Knox Dale.
