Douglas R. Johnston

Douglas R. Johnston, 44, Punxsutawney, died Monday, February 20, 2017, at Allegheny General Hospital.

He was born June 29, 1972, in Brookville, a son of the late Patty L. (Hornberger) and James E. Johnston.

On May 7, 2011, he married Brandy S. (States) Johnston, who survives.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Punxsutawney.

Doug was a 1992 graduate of Redbank Valley High School. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with the girls and taking them fishing, and helping with his family truck pulling team. He was employed as a Home Repair Specialist for Champion Home Builders who would fix the modular homes after they were set in place.

In addition to his wife Brandy, he is survived by two daughters, Delaini Johnston of Apollo and Caitlin Hill of Punxsutawney; four brothers, Jim Johnston of New Bethlehem, Jeff Johnston and wife Gwen of Distant, Greg Johnston and Joyce Yeaney of Distant, and Todd Johnston and wife Belinda of Widnoon; a sister Amy Hiles and husband Bill of Rimersburg; father-in-law David States of Punxsutawney; several aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; mother-in-law Kathi States, a great nephew Ryan Slee, and a great niece Mackenzi Johnston.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2017, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, February 23, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Lyle Westover officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mr. Johnston, to the Hahne Regional Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Drive, DuBois, PA 15801.
