Driver Escapes Injury in Crash on Route 119

HENDERSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 3:30 a.m. on January 6, a one-car accident occurred on State Route 119, approximately .5 mile south of Sykesboro Borough, in Henderson Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, 23-year-old Joshua L. Frantz, of DuBois, was traveling southbound on SR 119 and failed to maintain control of his 2004 Hyundai Tiburon on the wet roadway while negotiating a right curve.

His car spun in a clockwise direction off the west berm and impacted a stone wall with the front end of the vehicle.

After impact, the car spun back onto the roadway in the southbound lane before traveling off the west berm in a backward direction, impacting a traffic sign with the rear bumper of the car.

Frantz was using a seat belt and was not injured.

He was cited for operating his motor vehicle with unsafe tires.

Sykesville Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
