Driver Falls Asleep at Wheel, Crashes on State Route 219

PENN TWP., Clearfield Co., Pa. (EYT) – State police say a crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on State Route 219 after a driver fell asleep at the wheel.

According to Clearfield-based State Police, around 3:14 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, a 2017 Ford Fusion was traveling north on State Route 219 in Penn Township, Clearfield County, when the driver, whose name was not released, fell asleep at the wheel.

Police say the vehicle then left the roadway, struck a mailbox, and came to a final rest in a yard approximately 40 yards from the initial point of impact.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The vehicle sustained minor damage and was towed from the scene at the driver’s request.
