Driver Flees after Crashing into Moving Train at Route 219 Crossing

car-accident-graphic-5254_jpg_475x310_q85-300x225SNYDER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police responded to a car vs. train accident in Snyder Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, at 1:20 a.m. January 5, 39-year-old James Carlson, of Brockport, was travelling north on Route 219 approaching a railroad crossing in a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Police say for an unknown reason, Carlson failed to stop at the railroad crossing even though the signals were activated.

Carlson’s vehicle impacted the left side of the train.

The train came to a stop after traveling another 30 feet.

Police say Carlson was not injured and fled the scene.
