Driver Injured in One-Vehicle Crash in Washington Township

WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – According to DuBois-based State Police, a one-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 80 West, at mile marker 89.2, in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

Police say around 7:49 p.m. on October 19, 31-year-old Jameson L. Whitehill, of Bellefonte, was traveling westbound on I-80 in the left lane in a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500.

The vehicle left its lane for unknown reasons traveling across the left shoulder of the roadway and entered the median gradually where it traveled down a steep embankment, impacting several small trees and a drainage ditch, according to police.

The vehicle came to a final rest impaled in the ditch facing a westerly direction.

Whitehill suffered moderate injuries.

Medic 43 transported him to Penn Highlands Healthcare DuBois.

A passenger in Whitehill’s vehicle – 27-year-old Harrison I. Schultz, of Glen Arm, MD – was not injured.

Both occupants were using seat belts.

Whitehill was charged with a traffic violation.
