Driver Loses Control on Ice-Covered Roadway, Slams into Embankment in Union Township

Police car lightsUNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say ice-covered roads contributed to a one-vehicle crash that occurred on DuBois/Rockton Road in Union Township, Clearfield County.

According to police, the crash occurred around 11:31 p.m. on February 3, as Scott L. Beatty, 45, of DuBois, was traveling westbound on DuBois/Rockton Road.

Police say Beatty lost control of his 2008 Dodge Ram 5500 as he was negotiating a left curve on an ice-covered section of the roadway.

Beatty applied his brakes and lost control as the rear-end of the vehicle began to slide in a counter-clockwise rotation. The vehicle spun 180 degrees before sliding off the north side of the roadway along an embankment, according to police.

Beatty’s vehicle subsequently rolled onto its left side before coming to a final rest.

Beatty was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

He was uninjured.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

Beatty was cited with a traffic violation.
