According to police, around 2:30 a.m. on February 5, the crash involved Jesus Sanchez, 31, of Calexico, CA, and Manjeet Singh, 22, of Bakersfield, CA.

Police say the accident occurred as Sanchez was traveling east on Interstate 80 in the left lane of travel.

Sanchez’s 2008 Freightliner Cascadia began to slide and crossed into the right lane of travel. His tractor trailer then exited the roadway, striking the guide rail and causing major damage to the front of the vehicle, according to police.

After striking the guide rail, Sanchez’s tractor trailer went down an embankment, which caused the trailer to overturn and detach.

Singh was traveling east in a 2014 Kenworth Conventional when Sanchez’s tractor trailer began to slide. He attempted to avoid hitting Sanchez by steering to the left and driving off the roadway and into the median, police say.

Singh’s tractor trailer became stuck in the snow between the east and westbound lanes of travel.

Both operators were wearing seat belts and were uninjured in the crash.

Sanchez was cited with a traffic violation.

PSP DuBois were assisted at the scene by Jefferson County EMS.
