Duane A. Siple

1745694_profile_pic[1]Duane A. Siple, 45, Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with ALS.

He was born July 25, 1970, in Punxsutawney, a son of Betty J. (Peace) and Thomas L. Siple.

He was a member of the Cloe United Methodist Church.

Duane was a graduate of the Punxsutawney High School Class of 1988.

He worked in I.T. for the Genesee and Wyoming Railroad.

He was a great dad and enjoyed playing with his kids, hunting, volleyball, the Pittsburgh Steelers, his dog Ranger, and donating his time and effort to charitable events to raise money for ALS, his Santa Project, and the Tom Siple Foundation, which he was a co-founder of.

Surviving relatives include his two boys, Zachary and Brock Siple of Punxsutawney; his mother Betty J. Siple of Punxsutawney; a sister Cathy Harris of Punxsutawney; a brother Jim Siple of Punxsutawney; three nieces, Amy Harris, Autumn Siple, and Ashley Siple; a nephew Kevin Harris; an aunt Betty Lindenpitz; three Uncles, Robert Peace and wife Jane, Robert Siple and wife Angie, and Gary Siple and wife Jean; and numerous cousins and very caring caregivers.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas L. Siple; his maternal grandparents Grover and Vada Peace; and his paternal grandparents Robert and Sarah “Betty” Siple.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 11, 2016, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 12, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastors Mark Blair and Paul Thompson officiating.

Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Cloe.

In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorial contributions be made, in memory of Duane, to the ALS Association, Cloe United Methodist Church, or to the Tom Siple Foundation.
