Butler would be more than happy to turn in the Dolphins teal and orange for Pittsburgh Steelers black and gold after the California University of Pennsylvania product received an invitation to the Steelers’ Rookie Minicamp May 12-14.

“I’m happy to get an invitation, but I’m never complacent,” Butler, who found out about the opportunity through his agent, Bill Paraise, said. “My goal is to show them my talents and earn a contract.”

Gaining a contract as a non-drafted invite to rookie minicamp is never an easy task, but Butler believes he can showcase his talent.

“My athleticism often gets overlooked,” Butler said. “I can block, and I can extend the field with my legs. No matter where the ball is, I find a way to make a play.”

Butler was a first-team All-PSAC West selection at tight end and a third-team Don Hansen Football Gazette NCAA Division II All-Super Region selection this past season.

After missing all but one game in 2015 because of an injury, Butler returned to health this year and has 14 catches for 172 yards and two touchdowns for the PSAC Champion Vulcans, who qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs.
