Earl “Jack” William Johnson

Earl “Jack” William Johnson, age 81, of Hazen, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA.

He was born on June 4, 1942, in DuBois, PA, to the late Earl E. and Elinor (Smith) Johnson.

He graduated from Brookville High School with the class of 1960.

Jack married the love of his life, Polly (Plyler) Johnson, on November 21, 1962 at the First Baptist Church in Brookville, PA; she survives.

They were blessed to spend over sixty loving years building a life and family together.

Jack was employed at Brockway Glass in Brockway, PA for over thirty-eight years.

After retiring, he worked for Plyler’s Car Wash in Brookville, PA for over three years.

He attended the Hazen Methodist Church in Hazen, PA.

Jack was active in different organizations including the Hobah Lodge #276 in Brookville, PA, Warsaw Sportsmen’s Club, Brockway Sportsmen’s Club, Heath Twp. Sportsmen’s Club, and Brookville FOE #983.

He was an honored Charter Member of the Warsaw Township Volunteer Fire Company in Hazen, PA.

There were very few times when Jack was not outside.

Some of the hobbies he enjoyed were hunting, fishing, and being on the tractor.

He even built a “hunting shanty” where many memories were made.

When it snowed, he enjoyed pulling the grandkids around on the sled with the four-wheeler.

When the sun was shining, it was almost guaranteed that you would find him getting ice cream at the Frosty Freeze.

And if it was hunting season, you could not find him at all.

Jack was truly a jack of all trades.

He worked on the side as a carpenter and an electrician.

Almost every Wednesday morning, Jack and Polly would meet with their breakfast club.

He also spent many years playing cards with his friends.

Above all, Jack dedicated his life to his family, whom he loved to spend time with and make long-lasting memories.

In addition to his beloved wife Polly, Jack is survived by three children; Lisa (Nick) Rullo of Greensburg, PA, Lori (Craig) Conaway of Savannah, GA, and Jeff (Teri Stitzinger) Johnson of Brookville, PA; thirteen grandchildren; Wil (Briana) Maschmeyer, Brady Mason, Luke Rullo, Nicholas Rullo, Dom Rullo, Elizabeth Rullo, and Jack Rullo, Autumn Conaway (Brandon) Cribbs, Lauren Conaway, Bennett Conaway, Ryan Johnson, Madison Johnson, and Morgan Johnson; one great-grandchild; Jack Robert Maschmeyer; one sister; Sally Stoneberg “Sissy” of Lancaster, SC; one brother-in-law; Dick (Karen) Plyler of Brookville, PA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
