Edith E. Smith Rhines 72, of Richardsville passed away at her home July 21, 2015.
She was born on November 23, 1942 in DuBois to Clarence and Lottie (Hoover) Smith, who preceded her in death. She was married on June 18, 1959 to Joseph A. Rhines, who preceded her in death on October 9, 2014.
She loved her husband to whom she was married for 55 years. A member of the Munderf United Methodist Church, she loved spending time working with her husband raising their family and working on the family farm.
She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was generous and caring which caused her to be loved and adored by all who knew her.
She is survived by her 6 children: Ellen and Ken Chamberlin, of Brockway; Susan and Allan Seigworth, of Brookville; Rose and John Nelen, of Luthersburg; June and Wayne Richards, of Timblin; John and Jen Rhines, of Richardsville; Carl and MaryBeth Rhines, of Brookville; 14 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Bochert; her brother, Jim Beers; her stepbrother, William Beers; and her stepsister Martha Beam.
Family and friends will be received on July 24, 2015, from 2:00 – 9:00 p.m.at the McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville.
A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., on July 25, 2015, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Raymond Peters Officiating.
Interment will take place at Riggs Cemetery in Warsaw Twp., Jefferson Co., at a later date.
