Edna Keller

downloadEdna Keller, 100, of Albion, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the Jefferson Manor.

She was born July 21, 1914 in Coolspring, a daughter of the late Albert and Sara (Himes) Glontz.

Edna always said her longevity in life is living a good Christian life.

During her lifetime she wore many hats while attending the Coolspring, Woodland Ave., and Albion Heights United Methodist Churches. She played piano for Sunday School and church services, sang in the choir, taught primary department and adult Sunday School classes, was President of U.M. Womens World Society, a member of the Ladies Aid Society, a Trustee, and served on many Church Committees. She loved to bake for Bazaars that the Church held. She enjoyed listening to and watching the Gaither Homecoming. She said she read the Bible through at least 10 times.

Her pastime was reading, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, and making quilts for her children and grandchildren. One of her passions was going to her grandchildren and great-grandchildrens sporting events.

Edna is survived by four children, Leroy (Nancy) Keller of Emrickville; Betty (Fred) Davies of Youngstown, Ohio; Kay Covatch of Punxsutawney; Dr. Charles (Kathy) Keller of Warren; twelve grandchildren, Ken Covatch; Kim Dickey; Gary Covatch; Greg Keller; Michael Keller; Dave Covatch; Tim Keller; Pat Keller; Alan Davies; Brian Davies; Chris Keller, and Scott Keller; nineteen great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Mabel Thrush; Mary Winkler; Anna Shick; two brothers, David and Joe Glontz; two infant children, Isabelle and Richard Keller; one infant great granddaughter, Jessica Keller; and a son-in-law, Albert Covatch.

Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Harold Brunner.

Interment will follow at Coolspring Cemetery, Coolspring, PA.

In leiu of flowers, donations in Edna’s name may be made to Albion United Methodist Church, 290 Marvin Street, Punxsutawney, PA or to the donors choice.
