Edna May Summerville, 90 of Hazen went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 8, 2014.
She was born in 1924 to William J. and Helen (Bullers) Vasbinder in Hazen.
Edna was a member of the Hazen United Methodist Church, Where she took the responsibility of Church pianist at the age of 12 and retired at the age of 70 as the organist.
She was proud to be a life long resident of Hazen. Edna graduated from Brookville High School in 1942 and the DuBois Business College.
Upon graduation, she went to work for Sylvania and held the position of plant manager’s secretary until the plant closed. Her next position was at Brockway Glass where she retired after 30 years as a Senior Sales Analyst.
She is survived by two daughters. Sandra J. Philliber and husband Harry “Butch”, Punxsutawney; Betsy G. Ferringer and husband David, Brookville; Three grandchildren, Melissa A. Emrick and husband Barry; Brookville; Andrew R. Philliber and wife Nicole Drummond; New Bethlehem; Jay A. Philliber, Punxsutawney; Two great grandchildren, Nicholas R. Emerick and Macy E. Emerick, Brookville; a sister Doris R. Olson and husband Howard, Shoreham, NY; two nephews Gordon Olson and wife Dixie, Sturgis, SD; David Zettle, Ridgway; and a niece Joan Arata and husband Nick, Shoreham, NY,
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert D. Summerville, September 13, 2002; and a sister Evelyn Zettle.
Visitation will be on Friday from 12-2 PM at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville, where a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM with Pastor Don Henderson officiating. Graveside services will be held in Temple Cemetery.
