Edward Blake “Keppy” Kephart

Edward Blake “Keppy” Kephart, 75, of 146 Jenks Street, Brookville, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 15, 2015 after a lengthy and well fought battle with cancer.

Born on September 3, 1939, in Clearfield, PA, he was the son of the late Blake and Catherine (Livergood) Kephart of Shawville, PA. He Is survived by his wife, Patricia (Keth) Kephart, whom he married on March 6, 1993.

Edward attended Clearfield Area High School. He retired from The Department of Conservation of Natural Resources as a foreman and forest fire inspector. During his employment, he enjoyed his interactions dressed as Smokey Bear teaching children and families about forest conservation efforts.

He was a lifetime member of the Moshannon Forest Fire Fighter’s Association. He was an avid hunter and was a member of The Goshen Township Sportsmen’s Association as well as The Sigel Sportsmen’s Association. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours teaching his children and grandchildren how to hunt and fish.

He attended The Clarington United Methodist Church as well as the Greenwood Methodist Church. He enjoyed singing with several groups, including The Recycled Teenagers. He enjoyed going to yard sales as well as having yard sales at his home. He spent many hours repairing lawnmowers for people in the community.

He had an extensive collection of electric trains and enjoyed running them for the grandchildren at Christmas time. He enjoyed attending races as well as watching NASCAR and enjoyed watching football.

He is survived by two daughters and one son: Lisa A (David) Shifter, Clearfield; Edward G. Kephart, Clearfield; and Tammy (Roger) McGee, Mahaffey. He is also survived by two stepsons: Timothy (Jennifer) Keth, Brookville and Brian (Laura) Keth, Lykens. A brother, Arthur (Charlotte) Kephart, Woodland; six grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Beth (Kephart) Lytle and a brother who passed away at birth

Friends will be received on Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Brookville, Pa. 15825 with a funeral service to be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 11 AM at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dale Livermore and the Rev. Ned Burkett officiating.

Internment will take place in the Eden Cemetery, Gashen Twp., Clearfield Co., Pa.
