Edward “Earl” Corbin

Edward CorbinEdward “Earl” Corbin, age 76, of Fairview, peacefully entered his heavenly home surrounded by many loving family members on Monday, February 6, 2017.

Earl had fought a long hard battle with prostate cancer for many years and survived a serious and debilitating auto accident two and a half years ago.

Although his physical strength was affected, the strength of his love and faith continued to grow and now lives on with his family. A great support to him during his illness and after his accident were his family members, Howard and Kathy Johnson and Willa Johnson and Bill and Marie Kessler.

He was born in Dubois, PA on February 28, 1940 a son of the late Dale and Mary (Pearsall) Corbin.

He grew up on a large farm in Allens Mills, PA and was very active in farming endeavors. He was a 4H member showing cattle all over eastern PA and at the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg. He later participated as a local 4H leader.

In 1965, Earl and his family moved to Erie to work for Corbin and Maille Electric. During the years, he went through apprentice school, eventually becoming a Master Electrician. In 1990 he and son Daniel started Corbin Electric where he worked until he retired in 2006.

Earl was very active with his family, fathering, transporting, and coaching his 7 children. In addition to that and an active work schedule he was involved in his church, Weis Library United Methodist. He mentored and shared his faith with many young people, many of whom have mentioned his influence on their life. His coaching and gardening interests lead to considerable traveling throughout the years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret (Johnson) Corbin, seven children, Kimberly (Jim) Corbin-Jones of Lake City, Daniel (Beth) Corbin of Fairview, Bonnie (Bob) Bevington of Midland, PA, Maryanne Corbin of Erie, Joseph (and wife Susan Kelleher) Corbin of Washington, DC, Benjamin Corbin of Fairview and Jennifer (Preston) McKeen of Eugene, OR and his four siblings, Marie (Bill) Kessler of Reynoldsville, PA, Anna Mae (Bob) Douthit of Unionville, VA, Paul (Paula) Corbin of Reynoldsville, PA and Erma (Ed) Weber, Pittsburgh, PA. Thirteen grandchildren, Jessica (Fiancé Tim) Rohler, Luke (Misty) Rohler, Ryan (Heather) Moran, Brandon Moran, Megan Hess, Kristin (Christopher) Preston, Tyler and Hannah Bevington, Ethan Corbin, Rachel Corbin, Madeline Corbin, Summer McKeen and Conner McKeen, six great-grandchildren, Brady and Olivia Moran, Logan, Gavin and Dominic Rohler and Alexandria Hess and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews further survive.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Avenue) on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday at Weis Library United Methodist Church, 6020 Heidler Road, Fairview, PA 16415 from 11 a.m. until the time of service there at 1 p.m.

Interment will be in Weis Library Cemetery.
