Edward Manco

Edward Manco, 88, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 16, 2021, while a patient at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.

He was born in Wishaw on August 21, 1932, and was the son of the late Patsy and Mary (Garofalo) Manco.

Edward was a 1950 graduate of Reynoldsville High School and was a member of the Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Reynoldsville. He worked at Kramer Mines for a short time; before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps., in 1953. He retired as a Major, after twenty six and half years of service. He served in Korea, during the war, two tours in Vietnam, Okinawa, and Japan, in addition to the Caribbean Area, during the missile crisis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Santo Manco, George Manco, Peter Manco, Albert Manco; three sisters, Josephine Meme, Rose Foradori, Angeline Canton; two nieces, Arlene Meme, Patty Ruffner; and infant Patrick Manco.

Edward is survived by nieces, Carol Pate, Maria Hibbard, Joann Kujawa, Barb Srock, Elaine Fike; nephews, Oliver Meme, and Robert Meme.

Edward traveled the world defending his country and always remained a dedicated, loving, and generous son, brother, and uncle. Respected and loved very much by all of his nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and by all of the various friends he met through his life’s journey. A man of charm, honor, principle, and a Man of God. Uncle Eddie will be missed by all who knew him.

The viewing will be private for the family and has been entrusted to the Snyder-d’Argy Funeral Home – 206 East Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 607 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA, 15851, beginning at 11:30am and officiated by Father William Barron. Military Honors will be rendered by the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Disabled Veterans of America. Interment will take place at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Reynoldsville.
