Elda Baumgartner

Elda Baumgartner, 79 of Punxsutawney, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born on October 15, 1941, in Banks Township, Indiana County, a daughter of the late Mont Guy Yeager and Louise R. (Bair) Yeager.

Elda was a member of the Dora Evangelical Church.

She enjoyed baking cookies and pies and playing Bingo.

Dancing was her favorite hobby, especially Polka dancing. She really liked to dance at the Army Navy, which was the place where she met her sweetheart, Lee.

Most recently, while living at Grace Place, she enjoyed the daily company of her dear friend Dorie Pifer.

She is survived by one son; David M. Baumgartner and significant other, Virginia Shaffer; grandchildren, Mandi (Andrew) Perry of Punxsutawney, their children, Blake and Weston; Matthew (Danielle) Baumgartner of Punxsutawney, and their children, Cooper, Brielle and Brooke; Danielle Spiers and Cody Black of Big Run, and her children, Chloe, Chad and Candice Spiers, and Michael Baumgartner of Punxsutawney; one daughter, Helen (Charles E.) Fox of Punxsutawney, grandchildren, Heather L. (Josh) McAdams and their children, Liam, Alaina and Owen all of Punxsutawney, and Randy Fox of Anita; one brother, Guy (Sandy) Yeager of Rossiter.

In addition to her parents and first husband, David G. Baumgartner, she is preceded in death by her life companion, Lee Anderson; infant son Joseph Baumgartner and brother William Yeager; one sister, Elsie Huey.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A memorial dinner will be held at Dora Evangelical Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021.

Memorial donations may be made in Elda’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the American Heart Association.
