Eldon E. “El” Butterworth

Eldon E. “El” Butterworth, 80 of Punxsutawney, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Butterworth was born February 28, 1936, in Philipsburg, a son of the late Edwin and Mabel (Irwin) Butterworth.

He is survived by his wife Pearl Joann (Miller) Butterworth.

El owned and operated the Trade City Garage for over 46 years. His garage was his life.

In addition to his wife Joann, he is survived by two sons; Thomas E. Butterworth and wife Wendy Pardee of State College, Timothy E. Butterworth of Punxsutawney, one daughter; Cindy Shugars of Leesburg, VA., two stepdaughters; Susan (Bouch) Cole of Richmond, VA., Carol (Bouch) Snyder and husband Wayne of Punxsutawney, one brother; Dean Butterworth of Philipsburg, three sisters; Janet Miller of Lockhaven, Joan Diamond and husband Paul of Philipsburg, Theora Williamson of Nashville, TN, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

El is preceded in death by his first wife Kathryn (Maines) Butterworth on January 30, 1980, four brothers; Irwin, John, Maynard, and Ray.

Friends will be received from 11 until 1 pm Sunday, May 1, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney where a funeral service will be held at 1 pm With Pastor Tom Spiker officiating.

Interment is private.
