Eleanor E. McCullough

1486466_profile_pic[1]Eleanor E. McCullough, 83, Punxsutawney, died Thursday, December 25, 2014, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born November 13, 1931, in Morann, PA, Clearfield County, a daughter of the late Elizabeth (Holeva) and George Shedlock, Sr.

Eleanor graduated in 1950 from Houtzdale Woodward High School and in 1986 from Punxsutawney Beauty School. She was first married on July 28, 1956 to William G. Budihas, who preceded her in death in 1965. She then married John “Jack” McCullough on June 6, 1974. He also preceded her in death on October 13, 1998.

She was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church of Punxsutawney.

Eleanor worked for Loree Footwear in Rossiter from 1951-1956 and then retired from Blose-McGregor Healthcare Center after nineteen years of service as a hairdresser.

She enjoyed her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, playing bingo, camping, spending time with friends, traveling, crocheting, making homemade soup, trips to Vegas, and shopping.

Surviving relatives include three daughters, Denise Rowland of Punxsutawney, Rosemarie Anthony and husband Robert of Godley, TX, and Kimberly Zedack and husband Paul of Emeigh, PA; two sisters, Delores Faipler and husband Alfred of Erie and Helen Ferraro of Florida; six step-children, Mike McCullough and wife Nancy of Allentown, Colleen Tyler and husband Dave of New Brunswick, NJ, Dan McCullough and wife Lu Chin of San Diego, CA, Tom McCullough and friend Dennis Serian of Florida, Eileen Meyer and husband Forrest of VA, and John McCullough and wife Laurie of Lower Burrell, PA; seven grandchildren, Jackie Bishop, Dave Zedack, Dana Williams, Leslie Rowland, Kyle Anthony, Rebekah Anthony, and Matthew Rowland; eleven step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren, Cameryn, Brynlee, and Adalynn Williams, Maylin Weiser, and Anna Bishop; and several step-great grandchildren.

In addition to her two husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a step-daughter Patsy Dunmire; four sisters, Margaret Hriso, Dorothy Ewing, Betty DeMaria, and Madeline Eadie; a brother, George Shedlock, Jr.; and a son-in-law Alan Rowland.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, December 28, 2014, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A private funeral mass will be held for family and close friends at 11 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2014, at SS.C.D. Church of Punxsutawney, with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.

Memorial Contributions may be made, in memory of Mrs. McCullough, to SS.C.D. School, SS.C.D. Church, or The Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
