Esther Almeda Jordan, 95, recently of Lebanon, PA and formerly of State College, died Monday, January 10, 2022, at Spang Crest, Lebanon.
Born January 13, 1926, in Parnassus, now New Kensington, she was the daughter of the late Wade Newton and Nellie Pauline Casaday Bowers.
On June 1, 1947 she married George E. Jordan, who preceded her in death on February 18, 2011.
She is survived by two daughters, Roberta J. Hoffert and her husband Richard of Womelsdorf, and Karen J. Sandoe and her husband Kenneth of Myerstown; five grandchildren, Matthew D. Hoffert and his wife Erin, Andrew R. Hoffert and his wife Erika, Adam J. Sandoe and his wife Kimberly, Joseph W. Sandoe and his wife Corbi, and Lucas C. Sandoe and his wife Crystyn; and 12 great-grandchildren, Jakob, Norah, Wesley, Brayan, Gavin, Charlie, Jabin, Cody, Julia, Henry, Eliah, and Anna. She was preceded in death by five siblings.
Esther graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1944.
She worked as a secretary for Penn State University for 23 years before her retirement in 1987.
She was a member of the Cloe United Methodist Church, Punxsutawney, and a 59-year member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, State College.
She was a charter member of the Centre Cedarettes, Centre Forest No. 129.
Services will be private.
Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
