Ethel Irene Hockenberry

Ethel Irene Hockenberry, 94, of New Bethlehem, died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Jefferson Manor.

She was born May 4, 1919 in New Bethlehem, a daughter of the late William and Susanna Catherine (Juart) Hockenberry.

In her teenage years, she was a violin player with the “Tune Twister’s” from New Bethlehem.

She attended Behrend College in Erie, for photography, and also took courses from Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York.

Ms. Hockenberry became a photographer. She then became the owner and operator of Eck’s Studio in the New Bethlehem area for many years.

Her enjoyments were camping at Redbank Valley Park and fishing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Dora E. Hess and Clara Johns; one brother, George Hockenberry.

There will be no visistation. Arrangements under the direction of Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Brookville.

Interment at New Bethlehem Cemetery.
