Evelyn K. Haines

a82ab716330d4d88Evelyn K. Haines, 95, of Punxsutawney, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

Mrs. Haines was born December 4, 1918 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Jacob and Sadie (Wolfe) Kromer.

She was preceded in death by her husband Byron B. Haines on December 23, 1981. They were married October 31, 1941.

Evelyn was a member of the Woodland Avenue United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She belonged to the United Methodist Women, Sunday School teacher, church historian and a Charter Member of the Historical Society.

She enjoyed puzzles, reading, crocheting, knitting and conversations with friends and family.

She is survived by her daughter; Sharon Kelsey and husband John of Punxsutawney, two grandchildren; J.B.Kelsey and wife Susan of Porter, TX., Seth Kelsey and wife Tara of Allentown, two great grandchildren; Madeline and Zachary Kelsey of Porter, TX.two step sisters; Ruth Conner of Woodbridge, NJ., Betty Singell of Cleveland, OH, one step brother; Howard Kromer of Punxsutawney and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Byron, she is preceded in death by two brothers; George Kromer and Bob Kromer, three sisters; Marguerite Wilson, Katherine Bittner and Phyllis Bedel, two step sisters; Nora Jane Bellomo, Sandy Harvey and two step brothers; Bill Kromer and Ronald Kromer.

Friends will be received from 2-8 pm Tuesday at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday at the Woodland Avenue United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Wolfe officiating.

Interment will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Mrs. Haines name to the Woodland Avenue United Methodist Church.
