SIGEL, Pa. (EYT) – Farmers Inn, located in Sigel, offers an eclectic range of family fun and food that includes a restaurant, gift shop, mini golf and wildlife zoo.
Established in 1977, Farmers Inn began as a nine-booth ice cream parlor on the corner of a farm. The business expanded and remodeled over time and has become a family friendly go-to spot in Jefferson County.
Farmers Inn owner Kim Lucas said she sees many school groups and families come through her business. Lucas focuses on keeping prices low for attractions like the zoo and mini golf, so people can enjoy it year-round.
“We try to stay a family-oriented place where families can come and enjoy the day and not spend a ‘huge arm and a leg,'” Lucas said. “Hopefully families can come and enjoy it without spending a lot of money.”
The business has even begun selling season passes for $50.00, which admits a family of six to the wildlife zoo. The zoo is comprised of nearly 300 local and exotic species, including sheep, black bears, peacocks, sloths, and a Southeast Asian bearcat.
Farmers Inn also offers dining specials at its restaurant throughout the week. There are daily specials and a soup and salad bar, along with hot buffets and an all-you-can-eat breakfast bar on the weekends.
For those interested in shopping, Farmers Inn has a complete range of merchandise and products in its gift shop and bulk foods and candy store. Customers can even purchase Amish furniture such as hickory oak wood tables, chairs, and planter boxes.
There is something for everyone at Farmers Inn, and Lucas is hoping for another successful year of business.
“We appreciate the folks who have supported us for 39 years, and hopefully they’ll keep coming. It’ll be a nice, warm summer, and folks will come on out, and we’ll do it again this year,” Lucas said.
Farmers Inn is located at 759 Shaffer Road in Sigel, Pa. It is open Mother’s Day through Labor Day, seven days a week, and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in the spring and fall seasons. The inn is closed during the winter season.
